For a long time, now, I’ve been working on pipes, when necessary, to improve airflow, smoking characteristics, moisture accumulation in the shank and stem, and so on. I have adopted, from my old race motor building days, the phrase “Polishing and Porting” to paint something of a picture of what these pipe modifications can entail.
