Developed Jointly by G. L. Pease and John Gawith

For nearly a year, GH&Co.'s John Gawith and I have been developing a very limited edition tobacco containing that wonder of wonders, the Gold Standard of Louisiana, pure St. James Parish perique. It has been a true pleasure collaborating with John on this project, and I look forward to further adventures in the future.

Stonehenge Flake is a wonderful traditional flake comprised of bright flue-cured and sun-cured leaf from Brazil, Zimbabwe and Malawi, with just a touch of Malawi Burley added for a bit of body, and a slightly fuller flavor. Then, we added a hint of genuine St. James Parish perique, for its special piquant contribution. Once blended, the leaf was steamed, hot-pressed into blocks, and aged, to allow the flavors to meld and marry. The mature blocks were sliced into thin flakes, and cut into 2" lengths.

Stonehenge Flake was first produced as a limited edition of approximately 1500 2oz tins. The first run sold out, literally, within hours of its release, and it received rave reviews. As a result of the initial response, continued rave reviews, and repeated requests to reproduce it, we decided to put it in regular production. The original, limited edition tins are identified by the artwork as shown above. The production version sports updated livery, as seen on its entry in the Heirloom page.
