Sweden's Bengt Carlson
I first learned about Bengt Carlson from my dear friend, Mike Glukler of Briar Blues. He showed me a couple pieces he had, and I was instantly attracted to them. Subsequently, I got in contact with Bengt, and purchsed my first pipe from him, the squat rusticated piece shown below. The workmanship was first rate, and the pipe smoked wonderfully, so I was back for another, and another, and another...
Bengt still considers himself a hobby pipe maker, producing about 12-15 pipes per year. He's a good friend of Bo Nordh, and has obviously learned a lot from him. It shows a little in his style, but a lot in his excellent craftsmanship. Each of these pipes is very special to me, not just as pipes, but as a reminder of what a wonderful person Bengt is. You can see more of his work at his Svenska Pipklubben's web page.
